Ten Mile Lake did not give up a limit easy this afternoon.

We arrived at the lake around 11am to make sure it was warm enough for the boys. Austin caught his first kokanee thru the ice ever while we were still setting up so we didn’t get any video. Shortly after, Ethan caught a second kokanee at 22ft.

When we arrived, people were saying the fishing had been slow and the kokanee were not on the “bite.”

Our 2 quick kokanee had us thinking this would be an easy day. However, it was downhill from there.

Because it was slow, we opted to try a small Williams spoon with a Mack’s glow hook. We did not use any weight on our leader and we tipped our hook with pink maggots marinated in Mikes kokanee scent. I tried my garlic bloody tuna corn I had sitting out at one point but it did not smell right so I switched back to pink maggots smeared with kokanee scent.

Sarah and the boys left early (a pre arranged setup) and I stayed for a tough 6 more hours with minimal bites and hooks ups.

It took me until 6pm to reach my limit of kokanee. The kokanee seemed to still be interested and curious but were not very aggressive today.

A beautiful blue bird day and a great day spent on what might be my last ice fishing day of the 2017/2018 ice season.
