Another fun day on Ten Mile Lake with friends and members of Kokanee Fishing BC.

Fish were caught from 5ft to 22ft. Most fish were in the 8ft to 17ft range. Most of the larger kokanee seemed to be in the 12ft-17ft range. The waves of kokanee made for exciting sight fishing. My back is a little sore from spending most of the time crouched over the hole.

Most kokanee were mouthing our hooks and not committing enough to get a good hook set. The kokanee were active and chasing our jigs and flashers up and down the water column.

We were using two sizes of Williams 50/50 white fish. The smaller flasher appeared to be “less spooky.”

We had a huge school of younger kokanee swim by twice. There must have been at least 50 fish in the school. This was the first time ever I have tried to “not catch” a Kokanee and dropped and raised my jig as to not hook a smaller fish. The second small school had some larger fish in it and as a result, we caught a small kokanee.

The weather warming up is starting to cause slush on the lake. Bring your rubber boots of you plan to fish Ten Mile in the next few days.

A great day was had by all.
