Another great morning on Ten Mile Lake. I switched it up a bit and switched my dodgers to see if there was a difference in hook up percentage. There was no difference. So far this year, Kokabow dodgers, Shasta Sling blades , and now Gibbs Dogtail dodgers have produced equally well. All of these products are great choices.
I used Chartreuse and Pink Gibbs Dogtail dodgers. I used the same pink P-Line hoochies with a moon jelly Mack’s smile blade. I took pictures of my leader lengths which have been working well. I believe the larger hook size I’ve been using has also helped with landing percentage increases.
I tested my corn from Sunday and contrary to what I’ve read in the past, it did not seem to matter that the peaches and cream kokanee corn were not kept in a cooler or fridge.
Fish were caught at 30ft again off the downriggers. It was windy so I was drifting with the wind and most fish were caught at a constant speed while my boat bobbed up and down in the waves (added action to my lure below?)
I lost a couple fish at the net too. I had one fish in particular where I let my guard down. I had the net under it and what should have been a slam dunk turned into an epic fail. I casually started to lift the net (not in my usual quick sweep) and the fish came off and swam up, out and into the depths of the abyss. Needless to say, I have increased my sweeping motion since this incident.
Friday, I think I might try jigging for kokanee.
