Ten Mile Lake. April 14, 2017. It was a quick trip to the lake today. We fished for 1 3/4 hrs and landed 2 fish. We had one other hit. It took a while to find the fish and then it was time to go home.

We were marking most fish between 10-17ft. Our fish finder still works, thankfully, but will need a new one soon. Our transducer broke today at the hinge point and we will need to strap it together to baby it along until we can buy a new one.

We tried a few things. We had 2 sizes of Sling blades fishing and fished a Chartreuse Apex on one rod and a wiggle corky on the other. The action of the wiggle corky looks great, but it did not produce any fish. We tried red and chartreuse corkies with no luck. We also tried a Kokabow orange and chartreuse dodger with wiggle corkies but no luck. I think the Kokabow dodger will work soon with a different combination or with scent on the lure. We used Mr. Mikes kokanee scent on the chartreuse Apex and bare hooked it.

Both fish were caught on the chartreuse Apex, with a 4 inch sling blade. We caught them at 8f and 10ft off the downrigger. It was a cloudy, stormy day and we used the wind to our advantage. We like to use our trolling motor to help keep our boat straight and drift with the wind. Unfortunately, we have no speed indicators and function based on a 45 degree angle of our fishing line against the water.
