Tyee Lake. August 14, 2016.
We started fishing at 10:30 and it took a while to find the schools of fish. We picked up the odd fish in 2 of our “go to” spots but were not into as many fish as we should have been.
After methodically choosing the next spot (educated guess), we found the schools we were looking for. The fish were anywhere from 30-40ft. We targeted the 30ft range as I find our downriggers are too much work past 30ft when the fishing is on (newer/bigger downriggers to come next year……..hopefully).
We caught them on many different lures, but the wedding band produced the most. We used a pink apex, pink UV hoochie with a Mack’s smile blade and multiple colours of UV wedding bands.
The green UV flasher seemed to produce the most fish today (mostly under cloud cover, although in direct sun it worked well too). We also used a silver flasher which did ok too.
Our Ego net did an awesome job yet again. Thanks to the long reach we were able to boat more fish than a shorter net.
We lost a couple fish off the downrigger. Hopefully we can pick up a couple Shimano kokanee rods for next year with matching level wind line counter reels.
All in all, a good day fishing.
