We went to Tyee Lake this weekend. We stayed the night at Tyee Lake Lodge and Vic and Linda were awesome. Great Lodge, Great Food!!! It felt like home.
We kept 15 kokanee and lost many others. Some were lost at the boat and some right off the downrigger. We caught some fish near the surface and most were down 30-40ft. It was cool and cloudy most of the trip and when the wind was blowing it was easier to target the schools of kokanee for some reason (plankton bunched up?)We also tried some new lures and flashers. We used an FST and it was productive. We also used a Mack’s 3 blade troll which was light and productive Saturday. It tangled up with our other line while making a “narrow” turn this morning and I cut the line and put it aside the rest of the trip.
Vic, at Tyee Lake Lodge, was very knowledgeable about catching kokanee. He was doing well himself as we were the only guests for the weekend. They have 15 spacious rooms and served us dinner and breakfast.
We will be returning in August when the kokanee get bigger.
